MI40x Review: Is Ben Pakulski’s Training Program the Real Deal?
There is a lot of hype around the MI40x program, especially since it is a sequel of sorts to his original (and famed) MI40 workout program.
If you know anything about Ben Pakulski, and MI40, you know that whatever he publishes has a strong following and because of that has to deliver.
MI40x picks-up where the predecessor leaves off. The “X” portion of the name stands for “Extreme” after all.
My goal with this review is to provide you as much information about the program, who it’s best for, and what to expect before you make any decision to buy.
I will also show you detailed screenshots of the members area (not seen anywhere before), along with samples of the workouts.
Who is Ben Pakulski Anyway?
Before we get into the program details and product review, it’s important to talk a bit about the author: Ben Pakulski.
Ben isn’t in your run-of-the-mill “guru” that has a decent body and doesn’t have the credentials to back up his work. He won the Mr. Canada competition in 2008, and finished second in the IFBB competition.
It’s safe to say that he knows how to build muscle, and how to do it very well.
Going to the University of Western Ontario, he also earned his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. Currently authoring a book, he also teaches many seminars and coaches upcoming bodybuilders on how they can optimize their workout plan.
Ben continually competes at the Arnold classic, and finished second, seventh, and eighth in the program in the last three years.
MI40x is built from all of his knowledge on how to turn your body into a fat burning machine, while building, lean, strong muscle into muscle. He believes a lot in control and shows you exactly how to harness complete control over your progress every step of the way through MI40x.
What Exactly Is The MI40x Program?
MI40x is a muscle building fitness program designed for both men and women of all ages with the goal of building the maximum amount of muscle possible over its 40 day duration. Let’s be straight and upfront here though. This program is not a quick fix and is not for someone who is not series about making real physical and healthy progress.
You will need just short of 1 hour to complete each workout over the next 40 days. However, it will change the way you eat and workout forever, and it will reward those who follow the plan. This is all done through the CEP training protocol, as the author calls it. Before I go in detail about each part of the program, I want to discuss CEP and what it means to you.
What is MI40x CEP Training?
CEP stands for cell expansion protocol training – and you’ve never experienced anything like this before.
You’ll hear some of the world’s best trainers talk about the last set being the most important set. What happens is that your muscles grow when they’re under tension, but it’s those last reps that you force out with all of your exertion that ultimately maximize your gains.
This is a four-minute principle that forces every cell in your muscle into hyper recovery mode. What this does is force your muscles to produce more recovery cells than what would occur with traditional training. Since you only grow muscle during the recovery process, this means that you have more cells to recover faster at the end of your workout – seeing results even faster.

Digging Into MI40x Member’s Area
Alright, I’ve discussed all I legally can about the CEP program without giving away the core technique behind this program. But I do want to give you a peek at what you’ll get when you buy this program.
Dietary and Exercise content are the 2 biggest components of the program, all of which are contained in a Members dashboard at MI40nation. You will receive your own unique logon after purchasing the program that will allow you to access all Dietary and Muscle building content as well as the user forums.
The content is provide in 2 formats: downloadable book and video. Video is the largest piece of this and at over 130 videos it’s hard to argue that point. The programs downloadable books (12 in all) are in PDF form so that they are easy to access and usable on most PCs, tablets, and phones.
Before we get too far into the program content, we need to settle something. Who is the program best suited for?
Who Can Follow The MI40x Program And What Do I need?
The program is good for anyone regardless of experience. It is also good for people of all ages whether they are male or female. One of the FAQ’s on Ben’s site states something to the effect of:
“Yes, you can follow this program if you are over 50. I know guys in their 60s who are in better shape than some 20 year-olds”.
“Yes, woman can do this program. In fact, we have a lot of women who have excellent results.”
The program comes complete with 3 levels of workout plans covering Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. The only thing I will say, is that at minimum, and I mean minimum, you are going to at least need a set of dumbells. This is a not a body-weight workout program. To achieve the best results you should have access to free weights and dumbells.
If you don’t, it’s not a deal breaker by any means, but you will find yourself looking for exercise substitutes with just using dumbells alone. With that in mind, I’ve added a sample workout from the beginner (Ben calls it the Natural)to give you an idea of what you could expect a routine. Mind you there are workouts that cover each body part twice per week.
Your diet is extremely important if you want to gain muscle and lose weight. Ben knows this better than anyone, and has included several guides on how to get started:
- Nutrition Guide: The nutrition guide is straightforward and to the point. You’ll be following different cycles, and learn what you can and cannot eat. You also learn how to calculate your body fat, and you’ll know what to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Note that no recipes are given.
- 7 Day Detox: The detox is recommended when you first started. This will cut out a lot of bad food a week, and help kick-start your body to lose weight and build muscle faster.
- Supplement Guide: Within the supplement guide, you’ll find a massive amount of supplements that are recommended. But the author does mention to you don’t need to take all of these products if you’re not a professional bodybuilder. Instead, he walks through what products to take depending on your goals.
These are the three dietary downloadable books that are included with the product. In the Members dashboard you will also find diet calculators and health and nutrition videos to guide you on the right path.

Muscle Building Content:
The entire program starts with a five minute introductory video. This video helps get you started with the program quickly and easily. The author himself, Ben, will walk you through the program, so you know how and where to begin.
If you’re just trying to build muscle or if you’re more interested in the muscle program, there are a couple of different subjects that you will need to cover, and complete, before you move into the main program itself.
- 7 Day Primer: The 7 day primer is what you want to start with. This will kick-start your body so that it’s ready to build muscle efficiently.
- 7 Day Detox: This should be used in conjunction with the 7 Day Primer and it will help cleanse your body of toxins and get you ready to maximize your muscle gains. Don’t skip this one as it’s a very important part of making sure you are ready and have the best foundation to build from.
- CEP Blueprint & CEP Application Guide: Two separate guides. Both of these guides will go over CEP, so you have a firm understanding of why the program works. This will discuss in-depth, scientifically-based information that will help you maximize your workouts.
- Exercise Execution Guide: The execution guide covers dozens and dozens of different exercises and workouts that you’ll be following during the program. The author demonstrates every movement so that you know the proper form and technique.
- Workout Sheets: Several worksheets are available that you can download and print, so you can track your progress along the way. I love these, they very well organized and easy to follow. They help you keep things in check.

But this isn’t everything that’s offered with MI40x. You’ll get a few bonuses, too, that I can’t elaborate on at this time (Ben would rather let you know personally instead). That said, having a members dashboard is a HUGE bonus itself. It is packed full of everything you need to make sure you are successful. Now that’s not to say it’s without faults, no program is. Let me tell you what I didn’t like about the system.
What I Didn’t Like About MI40x
This is a really minor dislike, but before you buy the program, you get a chance to watch the intro video where Ben explains the program to you. This would seem pretty helpful, however, this “sales” video is somewhere over 30 minutes long.

The only thing that I didn’t like was that there are so many different PDFs to follow, that you get a little bit overwhelmed at first. This isn’t a much of an issue, but if you want to jump right in, you’ll need to learn how to navigate through the program. Ideally, you watched the introductory video where Ben himself explains what you should be doing.
What I Liked About MI40x
This program has everything from diet information to supplementation and exercises. There’s even a full video library to ensure that you perform every exercise perfectly and with proper form.
MI40x is for people that are serious about losing weight and gaining muscle. Even if you just want to gain muscle, this program will destroy your body fat, allowing you to get those six-pack abs you’ve always wanted.
If you’re paying a trainer, this program will provide you with even better results for way less cash out of pocket. In fact, you will be very hard pressed to find any program available right now that is this comprehensive.
