Home Remedies to Lose Weight: Starting in the Kitchen
Benefit From These 3 Home Remedies To Lose Weight
Looking for home remedies to lose weight? You will be surprised by how many people think it’s as easy as taking a magic pill or cutting out just one can of soda a day. Unfortunately, this couldn’t be further from the truth.
If you want to lose weight, it’s going to take:
- Lifestyle adjustments
It’s not impossible, but it isn’t as simple as snapping your fingers.
Thankfully, there are some home “remedies” to lose weight fast. What can you do? Let’s look at a few tricks and tips that fitness gurus, celebrities and bodybuilders use to shed excess weight and look their best when it matters most.
Create a Calorie Deficit
The main ingredient in any diet that works is creating a calorie deficit. This is how all weight loss home remedies work: they create a calorie deficit. This can be done in a variety of ways, including:
- Supplements: Diet supplements boost your metabolism so that you burn excess calories, but they need to be taken with caution.
- Food Intake: You are what you eat. If you cut back on 300 calories a day, you will lose weight. Simple portion control can help you achieve these goals.
- Exercise: A body that is in motion will burn excess calories. Anything from riding a bike to lifting weights will help you burn excess calories and create a calorie deficit.
If there is one thing you need to do, it is to burn more calories than you consume daily. That is all! It’s a lot easier than it sounds, but you need to keep this in mind at all times. More often than not, it is the little things that add up to quick weight loss.
You know that Frappuccino at Starbucks you love to drink every day? It contains at least 300 calories (for a tall).
Fasting for the long-term is not recommended, but short-term fasting can do wonders for your body. This is done to:
- Reduce calories
- Lower insulin
- Increase fat burning
When you fast, catecholamine levels in the body increase so that your fat cells effectively open up and start being used by the body as energy.
Fasting is one of the biggest “remedies” that will help your body adapt to a healthier diet and prepare itself for weight loss. Seriously, it works wonders. But it does take a lot of willpower the first day or so.
When you fast, you are:
- Reducing body fat
- Performing appetite control
- Leveling out cholesterol
- Lowering insulin
The main thing to understand is that you can fast and still eat. The 3-week diet gives an example of this where the author fasts for two, 24-hour periods a week over the course of four weeks and lost 20 pounds.
Short-term fasting can be done from lunch to lunch where you skip just dinner and the following breakfast while losing massive amounts of weight in the process.
Starting is simple:
- Start slow with a 12-hour fast.
- Progress to a 16-hour and 20-hour fast.
- Aim for a goal of 24-hour fasts.
- Drink a lot of water.
You can survive weeks without food and mere days without water, so always stay hydrated. Do not attempt to go longer than 24-hours without food – it’s not going to be beneficial. Do not fast for more than 48 hours a week for best result.
Intense Diet Changes
There are no home remedies for losing weight that don’t include diet changes. If you want to lose weight fast, you need to make intense changes to the way you eat to see real results. A quick and easy way to do this is to start cutting out the bad foods:
- Packaged foods
- Prepared foods
- Candy or high-calorie snacks
Heck, you can drink all the coffee and tea that you want, but if you like your 300 calorie Frappuccino with a thick layer of whipped cream, you can’t have it!
These small changes will lead to results, but you need to make more changes that have to do with the one thing I love most: carbohydrates. Pastas and delicious breads are great, but they add to the belly fat problem most of us suffer from.
Why? A calorie is a calorie! Right and wrong.
You see, carbohydrates are converted into sugar in the body. The body uses this sugar for energy. But, fiber is often lacking from the meals we eat. Sugar sits in the liver and is eventually converted to fat cells because the fiber needed for digestion is simply not consumed. When you have fiber with your carbs, the absorption of the carbs is lowered, which leads to less of an insulin spike.
This is why complex carbs are great, while simple carbs are seen as a big “no-no.”
Reduce the amount of carbs you eat, and replace them with protein and healthy fats. This works in two ways because it will:
- Reduce the amount of carbs you consume.
- Burn more calories because protein is harder to digest.
The truth is, all of these home remedies to lose weight mean nothing without a diet change. If you track your calorie consumption and follow the tips above, you will start to lose weight. Remember, you must have a calorie deficit to see results.
If diet changes are not enough, you have one more element to add to your list: exercise.
There is no easy way to exercise, but there are a lot of recommendations:
- Walk / run
- Ride a bike
- Do yoga
- Lift weights (HIIT is great)
- Perform aerobic exercise
Virtually any activity you like doing that doesn’t consist of you sitting in a chair or on a couch is going to lead to you burning excess calories.
