While cardio will help, strength training is the most effective way to blast away cellulite. We’ll show you the top 5 cellulite-busting exercises for arms, courtesy of the Naked Beauty program.

But before we get to these exercises, let’s talk about what actually causes cellulite in the first place. First, it’s important to note that cellulite isn’t exclusive to overweight people. Plenty of thin people have cellulite, too. Most of the time, it’s hereditary. If your mom or grandma has cellulite, you probably do too. Other causes may include:

  • Hormones – Estrogen, prolactin, thyroid hormones, insulin and noradrenaline may play a role in the development of cellulite.
  • Diet – Diets that are rich in salt, carbohydrates and fat may contribute to cellulite. Lack of fiber can play role in cellulite development as well.
  • Lifestyle – Cellulite tends to be more common in people who don’t exercise or sit in one position for long periods of time.

1.    Bicep Beautifier

Want to know how to get rid of cellulite on your arms fast? Work your biceps. Your bicep muscles span the entire length of the front of your upper arm. The Bicep Beautifier is, essentially, a bicep curl with a press added at the end. It’s a great way to not only tone your biceps (and smooth away cellulite), but work your shoulders a little bit, too.

  • Hold a dumbbell in each hand. Choose a weight that’s challenging, but not overly difficult. Stand with one foot out in front, and one foot slightly behind.
  • Begin with your palms, and curl slowly towards your upper arm.
  • As you reach your upper arm, push your arms upward; palms facing each other.
  • Lower your arms down to complete the rep.

Remember: palms up to curl; palms up to the ceiling.

2.    Tricep Tightener

Some of you may be thinking how do I get rid of cellulite on my arms without using weights?

Not all women like strength training – although it’s extremely beneficial for your health. One move that you can do to get rid of the cellulite on the back of your arms is the Tricep Tightener. This is one of Joey Atlas’s favorite exercises, and it really does help to tone up the back of your upper arms.

  • Start out by laying down on the ground; belly to the floor.
  • Place your hands under your shoulders; elbows bent.
  • Extend the arms to push your upper body up. The peak of the extension should look like the upward facing dog asana in yoga.
  • The lower back, thighs, calves and feet should remain on the floor as you press upward.
  • Lower back down.
  • Repeat 12 times.

If you find that you can’t extend your arms completely, that’s perfectly fine. Push yourself up as far as you can go. Eventually, you’ll develop the strength to push yourself all the way up.

3.    Total Arm Toner

How do you get rid of cellulite on your arms – both upper and lower? The answer is simple: the Total Arm Toner. This single, rotating exercise will work multiple muscles in your arms at one time. Plus, it’s fun to do.

  • Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Hold a dumbbell in each hand, and keep your arms down by your sides; palms facing your legs.
  • Twist your upper right body to your left and bend your elbow to curl the weight. The dumbbell should be up by your chin. Be sure to pull the weight from your elbows.
  • Come back down. Repeat on the other side.
  • Repeat 20 times.

4.    Pendulum Swing

Wondering how to get rid of cellulite on your upper arms? The Pendulum Swing will tighten and tone those muscles in your upper arms to destroy cellulite and leave you with killer arms. Okay, we made the name of this exercise up. But Joey never actually gives this move a name.

  • Start out with your legs far apart.
  • Face forward with your knees bent. All of your weight should be on your left leg. Rest your left elbow on your left knee.
  • Hold a dumbbell in your right hand; palm facing your legs, arm hanging down and elbows slightly bent.
  • Slowly swing your right arm back towards your right leg. Keep your arm parallel to your body. Make sure that you’re moving from your shoulder; not your elbow.
  • Repeat 15 times.
  • Repeat the same exercise on the other side.

Start out with 5-8 pounds of weight, and work your way up from there. The move should be challenging, but not impossible.

5.    Single Arm Fly

To continue toning up your shoulders and your upper arms, add the Single Arms Fly into your work out mix. This challenging exercise will bring your arm workouts to the next level – blasting away cellulite in the process. This exercise starts off just like the Pendulum Swing, but the end movement is a bit different.

  • Start out with your legs far apart.
  • Face forward with your knees bent. All of your weight should be on your left leg. Rest your left elbow on your left knee.
  • Hold a dumbbell in your right hand; palm facing your legs, arm hanging down and elbows slightly bent.
  • Slowly, pull your arm out to the side.
  • Repeat 15 times.
  • Repeat the same exercise on the other side.

Like the Pendulum Swing, you want to start out with lighter weight. Begin with 5-8 pounds, and then add more weight as you gain more strength.
